Bjarne Hansen, PhD is the director of the Bergen 4 Day Clinic at the Haukeland University Hospital, Bergen, Norway. He is also the director of Bergen Center for Brain Plasticity and a professor in Clinical Psychology at University of Bergen, Norway.

Dr. Hansen’s main dedication is to ensure OCD patient’s access to evidence based treatment. He initiated and directed the Norwegian National OCD Project creating 30 OCD teams throughout Norway, completed in 2016. He, with his colleague Gerd Kvale, developed the Bergen 4 Day Treatment for OCD (B4DT), and over 3000 patients have now completed the treatment. The B4DT approach has received tremendous attention around the world. For example, in October of 2018, Drs. Hansen and Kvale were selected by Time magazine as two of “The Health Care 50: Fifty People Transforming Health Care in 2018.” Currently, he is leading the international dissemination of the B4DT with his colleague Dr. Thröstur Björgvinsson, PhD. Teams from the following countries have signed up to deliver the B4DT: Sweden, Iceland, Germany, Finland, Singapore, Ecuador, Kenya, Nairobi, and Australia. Dr. Hansen has published over 70 articles and given over 200 presentations, nationally and internationally, on evidence-based treatments for OCD.
